There are classes of solar power that pose questions to scientists. Some of them are direct light or indirect light, passive or active, those are just a few types of classes that solar power has.

Some examples of direct light solar power would be, when the sunlight hits a photvaltaic cell thereby creating electricity, solar power can warm up a thermal mass without any other energy, Sunlight hits a solar panel on a spacecraft designed to test the strength of solar power, when direct sunlight hits the panel the spacecraft takes off. Direct sunlight it’s a solar water heater and the water is now usable in the domestic water system.
Any type of sunlight that hits something dead on without any type of reflection is direct sunlight.
Indirect sunlight is solar power that can end up in a form of energy; some examples are vegetation-using photosynthesis to change the solar energy to chemical energy. Places like the Hoover dam create energy from indirect sunlight. These places are called hydroelectric dams. The fossil fuels have come from the solar energy that comes from vegetation.
Passive solar energy is used on non-mechanical steps of capturing and changing sunlight into a usable form of energy, such as heating and lighting. A Trombe wall circulates air by natural circulation and it represents itself as a thermal mass. Certain windows, light shelves, skylights and light tubes take in heat during the day and can generate heat at night. The active system uses the electric and mechanical parts like solar panels, pumps and fans to allow sunlight to be used as energy.
