Wind power is not your everyday run of the mill power supply. In the year 2005, the worldwide capacity of generators run on wind was approximately 59,000 megawatts. But it only produced about one percent of the worlds energy supply.
The modern day wind power is turned into a form of electricity by converting the rotation of the turbine blades into current by a generator. In the old days they actually used windmills and they would use that energy to use as mechanical energy to run machinery.
On wind farms, the wind power is used at a greater capacity. They would use the power for electrical grids all over the country and in residential rural areas. The best part about wind energy is that it will never run out. The air used is clean and it also has a little bit of control on the greenhouse effect.
There are those people who do not think that wind power is such a great way in the world of power. One of the biggest arguments is what good is the air/wind energy if the pollution is going to turn the clean air dirty. Then the energy source would be contaminated. But scientists say that the air that is used is pure clean air and that wind energy should be considered a great source of power.
